I was taking a closer look at the water on the grass and I saw this tiny fella Some sort of hopper

 Tarantula in burrow

 The hairs!
A spider munching on an ant. I believe it is a kind of wolf spider
 Another bigger wolf spider
BIG Tarantula! Beautiful dark black legs. Appears to be a "Oklahoma Brown"
He was an active one, running to and fro.
Another wolf spider. I like their helmets.

Woah what do we have here? Some unmoving mass of fur in the middle of the trail? Could that be a skunk? I throw a twig. No movement. Is it alive?
I walk closer and start talking to him. He moves! Its a skunk! A common hog-nosed skunk! He's alive! Although man, he looks in bad shape. Dirty and groggy. Either he was in some major deep sleep, had a major hang over, or he just got the crap beat out of him.

But this guy was cool. Very mellow. This picture is from about 6 feet away. He would flinch a little when the flash would go off and seemed to be a bit anxious if I thought about moving closer than 6 feet so I backed off and talked to him some more. I told him he was cool, I would find another way And then he walked into some tall grass next to the trail, so I walked by I was about 4 feet away! Woot! What a nice guy. Hope he is ok. This story brought to you by your friendly neighborhood skunk!

Another tarantula! This guy was a bit smaller though.
But still a catch. I believe this is a Desert Blonde
