Germany Day 4 -
Almbachklamm & Salzburg page 1 of 3

Wow. Another morning, another beautiful beautiful vista. From about the same place as the great one from the day before. I'm going to miss you Berchtesgaden!

Mid-morning planning with tiny gummy bears we got for taking a survey on the bus :)
We started the morning at Frankie, Mr. Orange Bear at the bottom, where we were staying at the guesthouse.
From there, we walked south on the red line to get to the hauptbahnhof, where we took a bus up to Joe, the Mean Green Bear.
From greenie, we walked to up to Miss Red Bear, Jessica, which is where we were when I took this picture.
Then it was off to enter the Almbachklamm and hike down to Linda, aka Dr. White Bear, who was at a junction to get out of the gorge.
We planned to stay in the gorge and make our way to the end where Xavier, Chef Orange Bear, would hopefully have some tasty food for us!

Almbachklamm! They tell you how much you have to pay on this sign. Although, you don't have to pay until you hike all the way through the whole thing.. that is, if you want to get out!

The start of the gorge.. and also a neat little bridge/dam.

This explains that in the 1830's the dam was used to float lumber down to river where it would be collected and taken out on carts.
I'm sure there's a lot more water during snowmelt in the spring. And maybe there was just more in general back then.. not sure.

Looking back..

Off the beaten path to see a neat little waterfall..

Totally different waterfall than the one on that path, but a neat one nonetheless :)

As always.. beautiful clear water.

The gorge gets deeper..

Funny looking creatures on the trail!

I loved how the path was right up against a rock wall on one side and a dropoff to the water on the other!
